ForenSys

Visit website
ForenSys is an Australian forensic and investigative capability advisory firm working with government, policing, border, legal and financial clients. Having built their original website, Checkpoint Creative returned to rebuild it as a multi-page WordPress platform with a new visual system, connected services and industries, and room for the business to grow.

Project brief

We built the first ForenSys website several years ago as a single page. Since then the business has grown to five specialist services across six industry sectors, and one page could no longer show that range, direct different buyers to the right place, or hold case studies. The brief was a full rebuild on a fixed budget: a dedicated page for every service and industry, connected so visitors can arrive by what they need or by the sector they work in, plus case studies, insights, about and contact pages. ForenSys also wanted a dark-first design and a site their team could update in-house after launch.

A structure built around how clients arrive

We planned the site around two starting points. Some visitors know the service they need; others know their sector and want to see where ForenSys fits. Services and industries each have their own pages, and every service links to the industries it supports and back again. Case studies sit in their own post type, linked to the relevant services and sectors, so one piece of work can appear on every page it relates to without duplicating content.

A logo built to last

We designed the ForenSys logo in 2021, alongside the first website. The mark combines a magnifying glass with a gear, pairing forensic examination with the systems and technology side of the business. It carried into the rebuild unchanged, and the new visual system was built around it, with full colour and white versions for each background the site uses, and a standalone mark for the favicon and small spaces.

A visual system taken from security documents

ForenSys examines passports and identity documents as part of its work, so we drew the visual language from them. The palette pairs Astronaut navy and cyan with UV cerise and lime accents taken from passport fluorescence, set against a cool paper tone. Geist handles display and interface type, Source Serif Pro carries body copy, and Geist Mono is used for labels and reference details. Dark mode is the primary design, with light mode tokens already set up in the system.

Guilloché illustrations and micrographic detail

Each service has its own guilloché illustration, based on the engine-turned linework used in banknote and passport printing. Around them sits a set of 19 micrographic components, including registration crosses, coordinate readouts, figure labels and custody tags. They fill the open cells of the layout grid and borrow from the labelling found on evidence and examination records.

Motion and image treatment

The homepage hero shows a security document hidden beneath a field of pixel cells. Patches open and close across it, and on desktop the cursor acts as a UV torch that makes the document’s ink and fibres glow. We built it in three.js, with static images shown until it loads. The closing call to action on each page sits on an interactive WebGL dither field, and a custom dither filter brings stock photography into line with the illustrations. All motion respects reduced-motion settings.

One template across eleven pages

Service and industry pages share one template made from reusable sections, with page-specific sections added where a page needs them. We built the layout once in Bricks and rolled it out across the five services and six industries. Every section is saved as a Bricks template, and the Figma colour, type and spacing tokens map one-to-one to Bricks variables and classes, so new pages are assembled from parts that already exist.

Built in WordPress with Bricks

The site runs on WordPress with Bricks Builder and free ACF, plus a small child theme for what ACF can’t do on its own. That code adds an FAQ editor for service pages with matching FAQ schema, a reading time tag for insights, and relationship fields that only list the right type of page. The ForenSys team can publish case studies and insights, update FAQs and edit page content without developer support.

Search, analytics and launch QA

Before launch we checked all 25 public URLs for copy, links, image alt text, metadata and layout at desktop and mobile widths. SEO titles, meta descriptions and Organisation schema are managed through Yoast. GA4 runs in ForenSys’s own Google account, installed through the child theme rather than a tracking plugin.

Ongoing support

ForenSys is hosted on our infrastructure, with 12 months of hosting and support included in the build. We handle updates, backups and technical support as the team adds new case studies and insights.

I had a fantastic experience. They were able to nail our branding on the first round and with minimal website changes needed. The end result was a website that I'm truly proud of and can easily make changes and updates in-house.
